Kaylee's shoots exemplify the importance of adaptation — both on the part of the photographer and the photographee! Multiple shoots, multiple weather patterns. We had a great time, though it was a little hectic. We began with a mini-session when Kaylee agreed to be my Penn Yan area Rep. Then we scheduled her full shoot a few months later. We did not, however, schedule the appropriate weather for outdoor pics.
But Kaylee was flexible and we hit the streets of Penn Yan early the following week to finish things up. The results were outstanding, and I hope she's as excited as I am. Kaylee, I had a great time working with you. Thanks for being such a great rep!

I had such a hard time narrowing down the photos from this session. We started inside, but since it was such a beautiful, sunny day, we quickly headed out. With Keuka Lake as a backdrop (and a fun place to skip stones) I hardly wanted to leave. Kris and Susan, you have such a beautiful family. I hope you had as much fun as I did!

When she's already three months old! Someone has been a little behind with her blogging – I apologize, and will try to not let it happen again…

Since I have so many new photos to show, I'll just get right to it. This beautiful little girl is Ashleigh, whom I met on my Cleveland Portrait Tour 2009. Well, the Cleveland Portrait Spring Tour 2009, as I'll be going back. Like Batman getting the bat signal, when I hear a newborn cry I grab my camera and go!

Every parent knows that, with their kids, the moments of cuteness compete with moments of craziness. But with a little girl named Avery, you get the sense that she could tear up the house — and still melt her parents' hearts with one smile.

In other words, this is the little girl that makes you want to have a little girl.

She's already so expressive at a young age; I've had a hard time paring down dozens of wonderful images. Here are just a few of Sweet Avery.

Have you met Mr. James yet?

He's not quite two, but I like to call him "Mr. James."  That's because he's the first infant I've seen start to grow up through the lens of my camera. He is becoming quite a little man, as you'll see below.

I first met James and his absolutely amazing mom Robyn a year ago when I accompanied them on their first family trip to the zoo. He wasn't walking then but really seemed to enjoy the day – even with a crazy stalker towing a camera around behind him!

We met again last fall when the family picked out Halloween pumpkins.  James had grown into a walking machine and was a joy to follow around.  He's always been comfortable with me, and I think it shows in the portraits: Instead of a series of forced smiles, we see natural smiles and genuine moments of expression.

A few weeks ago marked my third visit with Mr. James and my first chance to meet his awesome dad Daniel.  James is now a little taller, faster, and somehow even cuter than before.  He's also getting ready to be a big brother in just a few months.  His sister will be a lucky little girl…

That's the perfect greeting that Jerry and Kim chose for their birth announcement / thank you card. I mean, the kid is in a coffee mug. (In case you're wondering if the coffee cup is enormous or if the kid is just tiny, it's the former).

I'm posting a few more pics from my shoot with the handsome Henry Vegas, as well as their official announcement.  I'm always excited to work photography into birth announcements; it can add class and personality, as you can see with Henry!

 thanksalatte

I just wanted to take a few minutes and introduce everyone to Ashley, my newest photography representative from the Spencerport High School Class of 2010! She's an amazingly talented artist and photographer, and somehow finds the time to play electric guitar? Seriously, Ashley has the world at her fingertips, and I'm proud to have her working for me.

Our "30-minute" mini photo session quickly turned into an hour; the weather was perfect and we were both having such a good time. I thought I'd share a few pics.

It's official – the bun is out of the oven, and his name is Henry (you can call me Hank) Vegas Manley!

Once you see the pictures, you'll be able to tell how much fun I had with this shoot.  I'm not usually a big fan of props, but Jerry and Kim totally made it work.  Not only did we plop Hank in an oversized coffee cup (with Kim too scared to watch), but Hank found himself laying on an antique food scale and in a large colander next to a monster-sized whisk (almost atop spaghetti too, but Kim decided she needed to draw the line somewhere).  He was such a good sport!

Kim and I used a maternity photograph for the cover of her baby shower thank you notes, and worked together again to design Hank's birth announcements.  I don't want to spoil the surprise (they haven't been mailed yet), but once I get the OK from Kim, I'll post it here.  I'm really happy with how it turned out, and can't wait to design some more!
